Urns

Urns come in all shapes, sizes and materials and may serve more than one purpose. The urn may be temporary for a scattering memorial service; or the urn may serve to be a permanent vessel for the cremated remains.

Before purchasing an urn you must consider the following.  If the Urn will be placed in a (Columbarium or Niche) you may have certain size requirements. We recommend contacting your cemetery and ask what the maximum size of an urn or container can be. (Scattering cremated remains or burying them in a cemetery, or property that you do not own,  without consent, could be illegal; and you could be criminally prosecuted for trespass or other infractions. Most graves are not actually deeded as they were 100 years ago. Now cemetery graves are only right of burial in grave, in perpetuity. However you do not own the property, therefore anything done on or to the grave falls under the ownership of the cemetery.) Some people choose to use the Temporary container as a permanent vessel. This decision is yours to make. The temporary container that we will supply is a hard plastic. Another factor to consider regarding size is: If you are going to keep the urn at home, where will you display it, and is there enough room for the size you are considering. Also, a very important thing to consider, if you have pets or small children, a fragile urn may not be suitable for the environment. Lastly, with cremation on the rise, many cremated persons who have been taken home, put on a shelf in the closet, are ending up in dumpsters. If you are a surviving spouse perhaps you should consider making arrangements after your demise, as to what should happen. If the cremated remains should be scattered, affix a note or message to the cremated container, so someone disposing of your items, will know what the appropriate action should be. We will not charge a family we have served for an Ocean or Pocono mountain scattering, if this is what you desire, so please keep this in mind, and yes, we will do this legally.

Pre-Arrangement

Dying is one of the few events in life that's certain to occur, yet one we rarely plan for. Should we spend more time preparing for a two week vacation than we do our last days on Earth?
